August 4th & Serendipiti
The central halls of Lebanese homes with their grandiose arches, ceilings and ornate triadic windows are the epitome of Mediterranean living. Through the eyes of these homes, we frame the outside world with blooming frangipanis, bougainvillea and palm trees. As many of these Levantine spaces crumbled in the face of the port explosion on August 4, 2020, we memorialize their beauty with needle and thread. Sometimes we arrive at precious moments, material and people by pure chance. The kernels of great discoveries are floating around us, yet we must keep our eyes open to receive them.
