We are TyrED

In a play on words from the English term ‘to be tired’, Bokja produces ‘We are T’y’red”, a series of upholstered motor tires in signature assemblage textiles. In Lebanon, tires are traditionally burnt during street riots to voice the public’s ongoing outrage and frustration. The use of textiles in this street intervention pacifies the political message while maintaining a poetic symbolism.
